TouristSite’s latest service, GreaterSpeyside.com had its industry preview launch at the “Going Nova” business event at Horizon Scotland yesterday (22 March 2007). While work continues on the services, the industry will be able to feedback and shape development. GreaterSpeyside.com is a Tuminds venture. Tuminds selected TouristSite having seen we had common views about the need to market the resources of an area using a number of appropriate tools, and to encourage sharing and collaboration.
Greater Speyside treats you to an excellent mix of things to do and see with beautiful scenery including a stunning coast line, the highest concentration of Whisky distilleries, over 50 excellent golf courses, plenty of castles and historic sites, silence, an abundance of wildlife including dolphins, dark starry skies at night, friendly people, superb local produce and lots of events!
A number of databases are being maintained, and interlinked. A visitor will be able to see local attractions and events near an accommodation provider, for example. The databases will be used to to keep the industry in touch, providing information to help keep visitors enjoying the natural beauty and services within the Greater Speyside area rather than having to go further afield.
There is also a discussion forum and a Wiki web site where anyone can contribute to a knowledge base about local things to see and do. Forms and resources for industry best practice are being developed. The web site will collect analytical information, enabling an assessment of its success.
Soon, member Tourism businesses and agencies will be able to show information from the GreaterSpeyside.com databases on their own web site, spreading the word about what there is to see and providing a much bigger “hit” on the web than would be possible with a single portal. The information will also be available on mobile telephones.
