MovieSite was first developed in 1998 but has evolved over several versions to address the needs of screen agencies in marketing a region as a place to film and to manage enquiries and projects.
The first iteration was used in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Using the Internet’s infrastructure was, at the time, an innovative approach to linking a number of geographically remote offices, in a number of organisations, enabling them to function as a single entity when responding to enquiries from the film industry and reduce turnaround times from days to minutes. It also provided huge cost reductions in time, printing, photography and postage.
Over a decade on and the technology has evolved to take advantage of modern web browsers, faster Internet and mobile technologies. The basic system is in use across England, Ireland, Wales, Abu Dhabi and in Austria and Scotland. New technological developments allow us to add creativity to our client’s systems, reaping the benefits of a shared codebase while enabling very high degrees of customisation to reflect local requirements including functionality and branding.
As part of this service, OpenBrolly manages terabytes of multimedia information, backups, high speed server hosting and ongoing innovation research.
